Space in Hill

Tourist Center Architectural Design
Zhongli District Office, Taoyuan City

This design project is for a tourist center located at Chngtan Park, one of the many ponds in Taoyuan. During a visit to the site, I discovered a small hill right next to the pond. Walking on this hill, I found it very pleasant, though it remained unnoticed by many. Instead of constructing a large building that might disrupt the natural ambiance, the design approach was to minimally edit the hill, creating an architecture where the lines of the hill and the building become indistinguishable. Through this design, the architecture is fragmented and scattered across the hill like land art, blending seamlessly with nature. The building and the hill's forms are unified, creating a structure that feels like an extension of the natural landscape. This design ensures that the architecture becomes part of the natural experience, and nature becomes part of the architectural experience.
